Coronavirus: All LTHS Students 'Engaged'
School indicates no issues keeping students engaged with remote learning.
LA GRANGE, IL — When asked last week, a Lyons Township High School official gave no indication that the school was having trouble getting students to take part in the remote learning curriculum. Patch asked the official about what percentage of students were engaged in their lessons and what the school was doing to make sure they were doing their work.
"All students are engaged with remote learning," Scott Eggerding, director of curriculum and instruction, said in an email to Patch. The school has more than 4,000 students, according to a 2019 report.
Lyons Township does not have a computer assigned to every student, so the school has lent 375 computers to students who not have them, Eggerding said. A few students, he said, do not have internet access, so the school is providing paper copies, he said.

All teachers post assignments by 9 a.m., Eggerding said. The school does not "require students to be run by video conference, given the challenges that some families have with sharing computers, taking care of siblings/helping them with their e-learning, and even some that are working as essential workers," he said.
The school's only technological issue has been with Zoom video conference security, so officials are recommending Google, he said.
