Countryside Man Accused Of Pointing A Gun At Roommate
The man was arguing with his roommate when he allegedly pulled out a gun and chambered a round, sheriff's police said.

LYONS TOWNSHIP, IL -- A Countryside man is accused of pointing a gun at his roommate and chambering a round during an argument, prosecutors said. Hakim Abdullah, 71, appeared before Judge John Mahoney on a felony charge of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. Hakim is also facing misdemeanor charges of unlawful possession of ammunition without a FOID card, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm without a FOID.
Cook County Sheriff’s police went to the 100 block of Hawthorne Court in unincorporated Lyons Township. According to the charges, Abdullah was having an argument with his roommate, when Abdullah grabbed a mop handle and started hitting his roommate with it. The roommate went to the bedroom to cool off. When the roommate came back out, the prosecutor said Abdullah was pointing a 9mm gun at the roommate’s head.

When the roommate asked what Abdullah was going to do, he chambered a round said he was going to kill him, the prosecutor alleged.

Police went to the residence where the prosecutor said officers saw a gun lying in plain view on Abdullah’s bed. He allegedly admitted to owning the gun.
Abdullah was released on a $10,000 I-bond, with special conditions of no contract with his room. Abdullah’s next court date is Feb. 7 in Bridgeview.
