Cub Scout Pack 3177 Takes Deep Dive Into History
Local Cub Scouts visit WWII submarine in Manitowoc, WI
This past weekend, 18 Cub Scouts from Pack 3177 visited the USS Cobia, a WWII submarine, located in Manitowoc, WI. The boys and their families arrived Saturday evening at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum. After learning a bit about WWII and Manitowoc’s vital role in building 28 submarines for the US Navy, everyone boarded the Cobia for an extensive tour. As the evening drew to a close, everyone bunked down on board the Cobia in the same “racks” that the submariners used 75 years ago. After returning to dry land Sunday morning, the Scouts and their families explored the museum and learned even more about the Cobia, the 28 subs built in Manitowoc, and the history of shipbuilding. The boys truly enjoyed the entire experience and are sure to remember it for the rest of their lives .
Cub Scouts in Pack 3177 attend all four D105 elementary schools. They enjoy hiking, camping, and many other fun activities. They also participate in numerous service projects in the community throughout the year. Want to learn more about Pack 3177? Visit www.cubpack3177.org
