D105 Superintendent Search Open Forum

Open Forum Invites D105 Stakeholders to Take Part in Superintendent Search

District 105, which serves the communities of Countryside, Hodgkins and southern La Grange, has recently received the resignation of their superintendent, Steven Bahn. Bahn served 10 years as principal of Ideal Elementary, two years as Assistant Superintendent and most recently acted as Superintendent starting in the 2018-2019 school year. Superintendent Bahn specified that he will finish out the current school year, ending his time with the district on June 30, 2020.

“I am committed to the goals and priorities that we have set out to achieve this year,” said Bahn in his letter to families. He added that his announcement comes early in the year because, “I want the board of education to have as much time as possible to identify the next leader of District 105.”

The La Grange D105 Board of Education has begun the search process for a new superintendent to start in the 2020-2021 school year. They have selected School Exec Connect, an educational search firm, to assist in this process. The firm will conduct a review of the District’s strengths, challenges and goals, as well as determine the attributes necessary for a new superintendent to possess in order to be successful in the District.

The district is asking for input during this process. There will be an online survey available from Monday, November 4th through Friday, November 15th found on the district website. Also, there will be a public forum lead by the board of education and School Exec Connect. This meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 13 at 7:15pm at Spring Avenue Elementary School.

Findings from the survey, the forum, and several focus group conversations will be used to develop a New Superintendent Profile that will be reported to the Board of Education at a future meeting.
