DuSable Mobile Museum Visits District 102 Elementary Schools

DuSable Mobile Museum Provides Interactive Learning Experience for Third Graders

The DuSable Mobile Museum visited La Grange School District 102 third grade students the week of April 9th at Ogden, Cossitt, Congress Park and Forest Road Schools. The Mobile Museum is a traveling, interactive exhibit from the DuSable Museum of African American History in Chicago. Students learned about explorer/entrepreneur Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable. DuSable is of African/French-Haitian heritage and is credited as being the first permanent settler of what would become Chicago. A school, museum, harbor, park, and bridge have been named in his honor. The site where DuSable settled is now a National Historic Landmark near the mouth of the Chicago River. The students enjoyed exploring the DuSable Mobile Museum and learning important facts about Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable and his contributions to Chicago history.
