Forest Road Students Lend a Hand at Feed My Starving Children
Student Council Members from Forest Road School Volunteer at Area Non-Profit
On May 30, members of the Forest Road School Student Council volunteered at Feed My Starving Children’s Aurora location. Students from the La Grange Park school packed meals for malnourished children around the world. 85 students and adult chaperones attended the two-hour event. The volunteer team packed 188 boxes of food, which equates to 40,608 meals, and the countries that will benefit include: Philippines, Kenya, Uganda, and Venezuela, to name a few.
“The students did an amazing job. They worked so hard, and are motivated to know that their efforts are making a difference around the world,” said Kim McGann, Student Council co-supervisor. “They represent Forest Road School in such a positive way, and really embody leadership.”
Each year, the Forest Road Student Council, open to all students who are in grades 4-6, take part in community outreach and local service projects. This year, students submitted ideas and voted to visit the Feed My Starving Children organization.

“The students love going to Feed My Starving Children,” continued McGann. “It gives them an opportunity to provide service and support in a hands-on, interactive way. The facility is booming with positive energy, and the kids really feed off of it.”
A Christian non-profit founded in 1987, Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) tackles hunger by sending hand-packed, nutritious meals to children worldwide. Nearly 1.2 million volunteers packed more than 333 million FMSC meals in 2017.
