Icy Sidewalks A Concern In La Grange: Official
The village manager addresses issues involving sidewalks and hydrants.
LA GRANGE, IL — A La Grange official said Monday the village has received calls from residents concerned about icy sidewalks.
"We request that residents assist the village and their neighbors to clear sidewalks adjacent to their properties whenever possible," Village Manager Andrianna Peterson said at a Village Board meeting.
She also said the fire department asks that residents clear 3-foot perimeters around hydrants near their houses.

Peterson spoke at a meeting with unusually low attendance, with only four of the seven members present. Village President Mark Kuchler and trustees Lou Gale and Shawana McGee were absent. Kuchler's 83-year-old father, Robert Kuchler, a U.S. Air Force veteran, died in late December.
At the meeting, resident Cindy Brom, a member of Dry Up La Grange, asked about the results of flooding studies from Charles Burke Engineering, which she said were due in December.

"It just reminds me that in June, we were complaining about the lack of a sense of urgency," Brom said. "And it appears that some of the trustees have no update on the results of those studies. I would like to request for the next board meeting a report of those studies and an update on what is happening with flood mitigation."
Public Works Director Richard Colby said that an application for a federal grant was recently completed.
