Inquiry Continues In LTHS Attack: Chief
An interim chief has taken command since the attack occurred.

LA GRANGE, IL – La Grange police are still investigating the May 1 attack outside Lyons Township High School that left a student severely injured, the interim chief said last week.
Chief Kurt Bluder made the statement in response to a Patch inquiry. Bluder took the police department's helm last month upon the retirement of Robert Wardlaw.
Bluder, a former La Grange police chief, heads security for Hinsdale High School District 86.

On May 10, La Grange police said they arrested a juvenile in the fight on charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery involving great bodily harm.
Police took the unusual step of declining to reveal the juvenile's age, gender, hometown or whether the juvenile is a student. Typically, police departments withhold a juvenile's name, but release the other information.

In an interview, Bluder said the withholding of the other information was at the direction of the village attorney.
Before the juvenile's arrest, police announced they charged James Hernandez Jr., 18, of Brookfield, with battery.
The lack of information from the police and school on the injured student's status has resulted in much online speculation.
