Isn't That Sweet Bakery Opens on La Grange Road

The bakery has been a catering business since 2007, but the French-trained chef has always dreamed of opening her own storefront.

After years of existing as a catering business, Isn't That Sweet bakery has a store front now on La Grange Road.

Isn't That Sweet opened May 16 at 21A S. La Grange Rd. and offers cupcakes, tarts, macaroons and more treats.

Palos Heights resident Nicole Betourney’s dessert company was formerly exclusive to catering, but made the move to selling individual cupcakes and other treats when it opened in Now Serving last year.

Betourney considered that a test run for her business, and now she's finally got the brick-and-mortar space she's been seeking.

"I've been looking at La Grange for a while," she said. "It's such a cute, little downtown area."

She's run Isn’t That Sweet since 2007 out of a number of different suburban-Chicago kitchens. Prior to that, she graduated from Le Cordon Blue and The French Pastry School, both in Chicago, and worked as the soufflé chef at Las Vegas’ Eiffel Tower Restaurant.

"The French influence sets me apart," Betourney said. For example, she uses French sea salt, croissants and features a tea fushion in her desserts.

Betourney said the menu will change daily but will always feature a variety of treats. Isn't That Sweet also serves Chicago-based Metropolis coffee. And catering is still a major part of the business.
