La Grange Changes Lawyers After 30 Years
The Village Board chooses an attorney from the same law firm.
LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange is changing its attorney for the first time in three decades.
On Monday, the Village Board approved Benjamin Schuster of the Chicago-based Elrod Friedman law firm as the new village attorney. He replaces the retiring Mark Burkland, who is with the same firm.
Over the last couple of years, Schuster has been increasingly involved in day-to-day village matters, according to a memo.

"Mr. Schuster has been an asset to the Village, and it was determined that he would best meet the Village's needs at this time," Village President Mark Kuchler said in the memo.
At the meeting, Kuchler praised Burkland's service and said he would be honored at a later session.
