La Grange Local Businesses Celebrate 'Skeletober'
This is the second year that the La Grange Business Association is organizing a display that features dozens of skeletons by businesses.

LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange local businesses will celebrate "Skeletober" with 48 5-foot tall skeletons, which will lounge in front of businesses starting Oct. 10. This is the second year that the La Grange Business Association is organizing a display that features dozens of skeletons posing in various themes. Each friendly skeleton is sponsored by a local business as a way of inviting visitors to explore La Grange, according to the release.
The business association said visitors are encouraged to take pictures with the lively skeletons and post on social media by tagging the La Grange Business Association, the sponsoring business and using #skeletober to be entered in a drawing for a gift basket valued at $1,000.
A map indicating where each skeleton is located, as well as information about seasonal offers at local businesses, is available at participating merchants or online at LagrangeEvents.com. According to the business association, the map also includes information and the route for the Halloween Walk, a trick-or-treat parade for kids led by the Greater La Grange YMCA held on Saturday, Oct. 28. Line-up starts at 9:30 a.m. at Cossitt School playground and the walk is held 10 a.m. - noon with treats provided by local businesses. When the walk ends at noon, the YMCA will provide crafts for kids and pumpkin bowling on the lawn near the fountain at Village Hall.
"We love to find fun and creative ways for people to engage with our businesses, and the skeletons are a natural fit," Nancy Cummings, Executive Director of the La Grange Business Association, said in a release. "It's important for people to understand that our small businesses help set the tone for the community, and they need to be supported in order for the neighborhood to thrive."
According to the release, the main sponsor of Skeletober is Steve Jasinski, a realtor with Baird & Warner; the display is also held with the support of the Village of La Grange.
"Skeletober does a great job of highlighting all of the terrific amenities that make La Grange a great place to live," Jasinski said in a release. "And it's an event that emphasizes the fact that so many unique and diverse businesses have made their home here in La Grange, too."
