La Grange Loosens Liquor Rule
Change in regulations is in response to governor's order closing restaurants.
LA GRANGE, IL — The governor's order closing restaurant dining rooms has presented a problem for La Grange restaurants that sell bottles of wine to customers. But Village President Mark Kuchler, who serves as the village's liquor commissioner, said Wednesday he has adjusted a regulation to help solve the problem.
Current restaurant liquor licenses allow for the sale of bottles of wine for off-premise consumption when a customer has enjoyed a meal in the restaurant immediately before, Kuchler said. Consistent with state regulations, Kuchler said he has authorized the sale of bottles of wine along with a meal prepared on the licensed premise for carryout and curbside pick-up orders.
This adjusted regulation will remain in effect until restaurants are allowed to resume normal operations, Kuchler said. He is asking that restaurants sign a document with the adjusted regulation as soon as possible.

Kuchler said the village is setting up dedicated curbside pick-up areas in front of participating restaurants to help in their ability to provide that service.
