LaGrange School District 102 Takes Part in Hour of Code
Students Participated in Hour of Code Lessons at District 102
Students in LaGrange School District 102 recently took part in the Hour of Code, a global initiative designed to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming. The grassroots campaign goal is for tens of millions of students to try an Hour of Code during December 7-13, in celebration of Computer Science Education Week.
“Even after the official Hour of Code event, teachers continue to contact me to express how excited and engaged their students were during the coding activities,” said Al Kirkus, director of information technology. “I am thrilled by the positive interest, comments and questions that this event generated, and can’t wait to help our kids learn more about the critically important literacy of computer programming.”
The Hour of Code is organized by Code.org, a public 501c3 non-profit dedicated to expanding participation in computer science by making it available in more schools, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students of color.
