Carney, a finance executive, is active in many local organizations and nonprofits including Secretary of the La Grange Business Association and Past Board Chair of the Greater La Grange YMCA. He said, “Jack and the other founding members rolling off the Board have made a huge mark on this community and we intend to carry on their legacy of fellowship, scholarship and mentorship.”
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity and support of the local community, The Legacy Guild has now provided $478,500 in college scholarship awards since its inception in 2012. More than 98 cents of every dollar raised by the Guild goes directly to fund scholarships. Each Legacy Guild Scholar receives a $2,500 scholarship renewable for up to four years of college – a commitment of up to $10,000 per student.

The Legacy Guild was formed in 2012 by a group of men from La Grange and surrounding areas drawn together after a cluster of sudden and unexpected deaths of some great friends and neighbors. The Guild formed within weeks of these tragic events to offer support to each other and to transcend our grief and sorrow. Our fellowship group meets regularly to discuss important issues, including how to be a better father, husband, son, brother, neighbor and friend. The Legacy Guild Scholars program developed out of these fellowship meetings.
