Loud Blast Near La Grange Explained
The company says it may have the reason for the loudness of the blast on Monday.

LA GRANGE, IL – A La Grange trustee said that on Monday, she heard the loudest blast in her more than 10 years in the village from a nearby quarry. Others agreed with her online.
A spokesman for the Hanson Aggregates quarry in McCook said the company may have the reason.
"The location of the blast was a bit more Northwest and closer to the property line than it has been typically, so that may explain how it seemed louder to some," spokesman Jeff Sieg said in an email to Patch on Thursday. "The recorded seismic readings from the blast were well below regulatory limits and significantly below any damage threshold."
