LT Math Teacher Wins Outstanding Educator Award

Kristine Blachinski recognized by University of Chicago

A recent Lyons Township High School graduate singled out math teacher Kristine Blachinski, and as a result of the nomination, she was selected for the University of Chicago’s Outstanding Educator Award.

All incoming freshmen at University of Chicago were given the opportunity to nominate a former teacher who influenced them, challenged them, or helped them along the path toward intellectual growth.

The University received letters from thousands of students, inspired by teachers who changed the course of their lives, who taught them to re-imagine texts, to delve deeper into problem-solving and to think beyond the borders of the classroom in the pursuit of their own education.

The Outstanding Educator Award is an opportunity for the University to thank educators for going above and beyond the call of duty every day and leaving an impression that will be carried over a lifetime.

All award winners receive a commemorative award, certificate, and letter that includes details from the student by whom they were nominated. All winners are invited to participate in a virtual event celebrating this year’s honorees on October 21 at 7pm, featuring University of Chicago President Robert Zimmer, Provost Ka Yee C. Lee, and Trustee Greg Wendt.
