LT Robotics teams rack up more wins
LT Robotics teams recently competed at and won the Fox Valley Vex Tournament held at Batavia High School
The Lyons Township High School Robotics teams recently competed at and won the Fox Valley Vex Tournament held at Batavia High School. In total, there were 33 teams competing at this event.
LT Team 23880A won the Create Award but lost in the finals. Team 23880C won the Design Award and qualified for the Illinois State Championship. Team 23880E won the Robot Skills Championship, Amaze Award and were tournament champions. Team 23880E has won two of three tournaments they have competed in this year. All five teams from LT competed at the tournament, and LT now has four of their five teams qualified to compete at the State Championship next month.
VEX competitions consist of students driving robots they designed, built, and programmed using an integrated system of motors, wheels, metal and sensors. The competition is played by placing caps on poles, turning flags, and parking robots on platforms.

Teams consist of 3-6 students and each student has a different role. The two main roles are builder and coder. The builders construct the actual robot and troubleshoot any mechanical problems that might happen. The coders create custom actions for the robot to do in order to score points with speed and accuracy.
