Lyons Township High School Chess Club, only in its second year, secured a spot at the Illinois State Chess Tournament

Lyons Township High School Chess Club, only in its second year, secured a spot at the Illinois State Chess Tournament. The team began the State Series at Sectionals, where LT was seeded last. It beat nearly half of the 20 teams, finishing in 11th place and qualifying to compete at State.

They started State seeded 89th but moved up seven spots to 82nd by the end of the weekend. An impressive record considering the program is only in its second year!
