LT’s Sanchez named VFW Teacher of the Year
LT Hispanic Liaison and Alternative Education teacher Jorge Sanchez was presented with the award by the Western Springs VFW Post 10778

Lyons Township High School Hispanic Liaison and Alternative Education teacher Jorge Sanchez was presented with a Teacher of the Year award by the Western Springs VFW Post 10778. Education Committee Chairman Bruce Harkin (second from left) said, “The post thanks you for your outstanding service in the education of our youth, especially our Hispanic students” Post Board members Peter Zika (far right) and Seedy Ulrich LT Class of ’44 (far left) echoed congratulations. LTHS Superintendent Dr. Timothy Kilrea noted that Sanchez has a remarkable rapport with students. “He is innovative, creative and serious about meeting the needs of all students. He is a remarkable liaison with our Hispanic community and has gone to great lengths to help ensure students and their families are included and invested in LT.”
Sanchez began at LT in 2013. He earned two master’s degrees, one from Northeastern University and another from Chicago State University. His undergraduate degree is from DePaul University.
