LT’s senior radio staffer wins national award
Lars Lonnroth was awarded first place in the nation for his news feature titled "Jake Elliott Returns Home"

Lyons Township High School senior and WLTL Radio staffer Lars Lonnroth, of LaGrange, was awarded first place in the nation for his news feature titled “Jake Elliott Returns Home” in the category of Sport News Coverage at the 79th Annual Intercollegiate Broadcast System Conference in New York City. This is not the first time Lonnroth has taken a national title for his journalism prowess, having earned four national awards at the National School Press Association convention earlier this fall.
Lonnroth said he was thrilled to receive the award, “As a senior, it’s nice to receive affirmation from organizations that see the value in LT’s media programs. You work really hard all four years, and it’s rewarding to see it all come together.”
After graduating, Lonnroth plans to study journalism – both broadcast and print. Mercer College, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champiagn and University of Missouri are among his top choices.
