LT Senior wins High School Athlete of the Month

LT's Walker wins Athlete of the Month and named to Junior National swim team

Lyons Township High School senior Spencer Walker, of LaGrange Park, was named High School Athlete of the Month by the Chicago Tribune Suburban Sports team and community voters for the month of March.

The program, now in its fifth year, draws on the Chicago Tribune Sports team to nominate athletes and community members – including coaches, athletic directors, teachers, students and parents – to vote for their favorite athletes. In recognition of Walker’s win, COUNTRY Financial, the program’s sponsor, is donating $500 to LT.

Walked helped the swim team take 2nd place in state and was named 100 Backstroke State Champion State Record All-American.

In addition, Walker recently swam at the NCSA Junior Nationals and was named to the National Team to represent the USA in Dublin, Ireland. He made the team by placing 2nd in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events. He will travel with the National team at the end of March. This is the biggest honor for any 18-under swimmer in the country.
