LT Student Council To Play Cupid
Project Love Letter is designed to spread love, joy and connection throughout the LT community

Lyons Township High School Student Council is stepping in as Cupid this February, orchestrating a community service project designed to spread love, joy and connection throughout the LT community. Students, staff, families and community members are invited to participate by hand-writing a short, one-page, anonymous letter of love and thanks to someone in the community.
A primary focus will be to deliver letters to institutions – retirement communities, rehabilitation and long-term care facilities, hospitals, etc. Student Council has been tasked with identifying where to send the dispatches, starting in the local community and then spreading outward.
Language Arts teachers have been asked to dedicate fifteen minutes one day to give students the opportunity to write those letters in their classes. Director of Student Activities Peter Geddeis said, “If we can get each student at LT to write one letter, that’s 4,000 little sparks of love that we can engender.”

Junior and Student Council Treasurer Maia Halm, of Western Springs, added, “Not only do we want to inspire people to write this, but we want to inspire the people reading these letters as well. You never know what someone may be going through and getting a letter from a random person, could really lift someone up and change their day.
“I believe we can all agree that we've felt disconnected during this troubling time, whether that be school, friends, family, etc. It has been a tough year for everyone. I believe that this project is very important because it's a way to bring joy into other lives,” Halm added.
