“I am passionate about improving the quality of education for all students. The four biggest challenges facing the District in the next five years are: financial stability, the impact of COVID-19 on student achievement, strategic plan implementation and equity for all students,” Thomas said. “The experience I have as a board member and elected officer can add value to the District 204 Board of Education because I am familiar with how to work collectively with a team who can confront an array of tough challenges and make well-informed decisions that represent all students to continue moving the District forward,” he added.
Thomas is a Marketing and Advertising professional with more than three decades of experience leading diverse business segments and teams for Consumer Package Goods companies. He holds an MBA in General Management from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor’s in Journalism and Sociology from the University of Iowa.
According to Superintendent Dr. Timothy Kilrea, the Board received 17 applications to fill the vacancy. School Board members interviewed all applicants and unanimously selected Thomas.
