LTHS Business Students Qualify For Nationals

LA GRANGE, IL — Congratulations are in order for members of the Lyons Township High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) Club, according to a news release. Students recently competed in statewide contests and one team and six individuals qualified to compete at the national level in 10 different categories.

There were three multiple winners – junior Daniel Kiely, of Western Springs, qualified for nationals in both Advanced Spreadsheet Applications and Advanced Word Processing. Junior Mira Dedhia, also of Western Springs, qualified in both Payroll Accounting and Business Meeting Management Concepts. Similarly, senior Colleen Sullivan, of LaGrange, will compete at the national level in Network Administration Using Cisco and Computer Security.

The BPA national competitions will be held this May in Washington, D.C. The students are led and coached by Global Studies teachers Jennifer Walker.

Business Professionals of America is a national organization for high school and college students preparing for careers in business and office administration. The organization’s activities and program complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of skills learned at school. BPA contributes to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.
