LTHS Curriculum Review 'Long Overdue': Official
The last review was decades ago. It involves hard conversations, an official said.
LA GRANGE, IL – It's been since President Bush was in the White House when Lyons Township High School conducted its last overall review of its curriculum.
And that was the first Bush, who took office in 1989.
"This is my 15th year as a curriculum director, and we have never done one, and my predecessor didn't do one. Nor did the previous predecessor," Scott Eggerding said at Monday's school board meeting.

Thirty years have gone by without one, although a lesser version of the process occurred in the early 2000s, he said.
"This is long overdue," Eggerding said.

The district plans a curriculum review, but it typically takes years.
"This is not a quick and dirty process," Eggerding said. "We have a number of cool courses, but if they don't really connect with something, should we spend our effort and energy increasing enrollments in something else?
"There are tough conversations that come with a curriculum review, but we haven't done it. And we just keep adding and adding and adding," he said.
The goal of such a review is to create a "very robust" curriculum, Eggerding said.
It is also to ensure that the curriculum meets state standards, he said.
