LTHS econ students flex finance muscles

LT Economic team takes 5th place in two recent contests

A team of four Lyons Township High School seniors recently participated in two economic contests. Their first competition was the Northwestern Economics Tournament against 16 teams from the Midwest. LT took 5th place. Just a few weeks later, the same group competed in the Illinois Economics Challenge held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago involving high school students from more than 100 teams from across the state competing for the championship title. LT again earned 5th place.

Each event consisted of individual, team and quiz bowl rounds, with 10 teams qualifying for the finals. Seniors Max Bresticker, of Western Springs, Adam Koszut, of LaGrange Highlands, Luke Jareczek, of LaGrange Park and Lucas Hanafin, of LaGrange, represented LTHS.

The contests are designed for students who demonstrate high levels of comprehension and application of economics concepts and skills; and to reward teachers for outstanding practices in teaching economics courses.
