LTHS To Fill School Board Vacancy

Lyons Township High School District 204 seeks to fill the school board seat vacated by the resignation of Board member Barbara Rosinsky, effective August 24, 2020. The Board must appoint someone to fill Rosinsky’s seat until the next election in April 2021.

Rosinsky was selected to fill a 9-month Board vacancy in 2014. She ran and was elected to the Board in 2015 and again in 2019. Over her tenure on the Board, she served in many capacities. Most recently she served as Chair of the Policy and Human Resources Committees and as Board secretary since April 2019. She also served on the Technology, Curriculum, Facilities and Negotiations committees.

"Barb has provided distinguished service for more than six years. She is highly respected by her fellow Board members, which led her to be elected to an officer position. It has been a privilege to serve with Barb, and she will be missed. On behalf of the entire Board and district, we wish her well," said President of the Board Tom Cushing.

Superintendent Dr. Tim Kilrea said, "Barb is an advocate for all students. She brought a straight forward, common sense approach to all Board matters. As a parent of three LT graduates and volunteer with extensive community service, she brought a wealth of experience and well-rounded perspective. It was a pleasure to work alongside her."

Residents interested in applying for the vacant position must be at least 18-years-old, have lived in the district for at least one year and be registered to vote.

Candidates interested in applying for the appointment to the Board of Education may download a Candidate Application Packet off the LT website at www.lths.net\BOE or may pick up a packet from Clerk of the Board Lisa Dombro in the Superintendent’s Office, North Campus Room 105, 100 S. Applications must be received by Clerk of the Board no later than 3pm Thursday, September 24, 2020. Late applications will not be accepted.

A special Board meeting will be held in September, when candidates will be interviewed during a closed session.

The official appointment will be made no later than October 23, 2020.
