LTHS Reports Big Drop In Virus Cases

But other schools are seeing sizable increases in their numbers.

LA GRANGE, IL — Most schools are seeing big increases in the number of coronavirus cases among students. Lyons Township is reporting just the opposite.

As of Friday, 13 of the high school's nearly 4,000 students had confirmed cases of the coronavirus, according to the school's online dashboard. That's less than half a percent of students. Meanwhile, just one of the high school's employees had the coronavirus.

At York High School in Elmhurst, 68 students, or 2.4 percent, were diagnosed with the coronavirus as of Friday. The numbers were 75 students at Hinsdale South, or 5.6 percent, and 88 students at Hinsdale Central, or 3.4 percent.

Lyons Township's caseload of 13 was less than a quarter of the number on the last day of school before the winter break. York, by contrast, saw its number of cases nearly triple over the break.
