Lyons Township 911 Agency Picks New Leader

The agency serves La Grange, Western Springs, La Grange Park and Countryside.

LA GRANGE, IL — The Lyons Township Area Communications Center's board has appointed a new executive director.

The interim director, Jim Moldenhauer, became the permanent leader Wednesday. He has served as a dispatcher since 2009 and became the lead dispatcher in 2017.

Moldenhauer holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Illinois State University and a master's degree in public safety administration from Lewis University.

The center provides dispatch services for police, fire and medical agencies in La Grange, La Grange Park, Western Springs and Countryside. The 911 center is housed in the La Grange police station.

The former director, Michael O'Connor, resigned in August after having served at the helm for 2½ years. He then became the executive director of the 911 agency covering western Will County.

The Lyons Township agency got attention last summer when it failed to activate sirens during a tornado warning. In the days after the storm, the agency investigated the siren situation and put the blame on a dispatcher.
