Madness of Edgar Allan Poe: A Love Story

The perfect Halloween theater event returns to Mayslake Peabody Estate

First Folio Theatre, known for its outstanding Shakespeare productions, uses its outstanding talents to create the perfect Halloween theater event. The Madness of Edgar Allan Poe:  A Love Story brings Poe’s melancholy and macabre writings to life as it works its way through the 30-room Mayslake Peabody Estate.

The love story of Poe and his wife Virginia plays out in different rooms as the audience moves along with the actors. Upon arrivals the audience is divided into two groups. This creates a very intimate experience as the audience is just inches from the actors in some rooms.

Throughout the evening actors go into Poe’s madness through stories including “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Pit and the Pendulum” and “The Masque of the Red Death.” Using the creepiest parts of each tale, you move through Poe’s world and deep into his creative genius.
