Mobile Skin Cancer Screening Stops At Brookfield Zoo
The foundation's 38-foot RV, with two exam rooms, will be visiting Brookfield Zoo on July 29.

BROOKFIELD, IL — The Skin Cancer Foundation is traveling around the country with its mobile skin cancer education program, "Destination: Healthy Skin." According to a release, the foundation's 38-foot RV, with two exam rooms, will be visiting Brookfield Zoo on July 29.
Participants will receive free skin cancer screenings, educational materials and sun protection giveaways. According to the foundation, local dermatologists provide free full-body skin cancer screenings, which are first come, first served. Participants will also receive educational materials and Walgreens brand sun care items.
Screenings will be available at the RV at Brookfield Zoo, 8400 31st St., from 1 to 4 p.m.

According to the foundation, skin cancer is already the most common form of cancer in the United States and incidence continues to rise. It’s estimated that 2,980 new cases of melanoma, one of the most dangerous forms of skin cancer, will be diagnosed in Illinois in 2018.
The 2018 "Destination: Healthy Skin" program began on May 15 in New York City, and ends on Aug. 12 in Portland, Maine, making approximately 50 stops along the way. The RV spends two to three days in each community it visits.
