Nazareth Academy Seniors Receive Chick Evans Scholarships
The Evans Scholarship is a full tuition and housing college scholarship for golf caddies that is renewable for up to four years.

LA GRANGE PARK, IL — Nazareth Academy seniors Citlalli Cazales and Anahi Marquez, both from Berwyn, have earned the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship. The school said the Evans Scholarship is a full tuition and housing college scholarship for golf caddies that is renewable for up to four years.
Recipients must display a strong caddie record, excellent grades and outstanding character. According to the Western Golf Association, Evans Scholars require excellence in “scholarship, fellowship and leadership,” requirements which align with Nazareth’s mission, the school said.
“The entire Nazareth Academy community congratulates Citlalli and Anahi on this honor,” Principal Therese Hawkins said in a release. “These two outstanding young women completely embody the values of scholarship, service, spirit and unity that we value so highly at Nazareth. We have no doubt that they will represent the Evans Scholars in a most excellent manner.”

The school said neither senior has made her final decision on where to attend college, but both are grateful for the opportunities this scholarship opens.

“The Evans Scholarship means that my hard work has truly paid off, and I will be able to earn a higher education without the worries of financial burdens,” said Marquez.
Cazales added, “I will be the first generation of my family to not only graduate high school, but to attend college. Having the opportunity to go to college on the Evans will be a token of gratitude to my parents who have truly sacrificed everything for my sister and me to receive an education in the US. Earning the Evans will also allow me to become a much better role model for my sister, something I strive to be every day. I want her to realize that her heritage, her gender, or her family income cannot and will not be hindrances in order to receive an education. We all have the ability to make our own path and actively participate in shaping our future.”
The scholarships will be formally presented during the Nazareth Awards Assembly in May 2019.
Cazales has caddied at River Forest Country Club in Elmhurst for the past three summers. The school said she is an honors student, Illinois State Scholar, and a member of National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Citlalli plans to major in forensic psychology.
Marquez has been a caddie for the past three years at Oak Park Country Club through the Daniel Murphy Caddie Program. The school said Marquez is an honors student at Nazareth who is actively involved in campus life, including Student Council, National Honor Society (President), National English Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.
