Nazareth Academy Students Named Young Community Changemakers
Students will explore the social challenges in the community, learn about philanthropy, review grant applications and more.

LA GRANGE PARK, IL — Fourteen juniors and seniors at Nazareth Academy have been chosen for the inaugural Young Community Changemakers program (YC2). The school said YC2 is a leadership development program designed to educate and empower local youth to become the next generation of philanthropists and is sponsored by Community Memorial Foundation, The Burjan Family and Allow Good.
According to the school, 30 students from Nazareth Academy and Lyons Township High School were selected, based on a written application and recommendations and will meet December through April to explore the social challenges in the community, learn about philanthropy, review grant applications, conduct site visits and ultimately award up to $15,000 to nonprofit organizations.
“We are particularly proud of Nazareth Academy's involvement in a program that lifts up key
values of service, community investment and philanthropy,” Principal Deborah Tracy said in a release. “Congratulations to the Nazareth Academy and Lyons Township students selected to participate. What an outstanding accomplishment to already be recognized as such positive changemakers for our community and our world. Our sincere thanks to Community Memorial Foundation, The Burjan Family and Allow Good for providing such an excellent opportunity.”
