Nazareth Students Plan School Anti-Violence Event

Students have planned an anti-violence and peace event on Friday, April 20.

LA GRANGE PARK, IL — Nazareth Academy students, in conjunction with the school's administration and campus ministry department, have planned an anti-violence and peace event for Friday, April 20. According to the school, the event is in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Columbine shootings and in remembrance of the student lives lost to school violence since then.

“In the wake of the recent shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, our Nazareth students felt strongly that they should respond and our administration agreed. We’ve been meeting with students to plan an event based around their priorities of prayer, remembrance, education and action,” Principal Deborah Tracy said in a release.

The school said the entire student body will gather for a Prayer Service in the Rooney Student Center on Friday morning. After the service, students will have the option of participating in all, none, or some of
the following activities: a student walk-out and break-out sessions for Action and Education.
