No Major Flooding In La Grange: Group
The flooding was "localized in nature because of leaves," group says.
LA GRANGE, IL – When it rains a lot, many La Grange residents brace for the worst. Despite all the rain Sunday and Monday, the worst did not happen.
Shortly after major flooding in late June, south La Grange residents formed a group called Dry Up La Grange. Its Facebook page has nearly 650 members.
On Monday, Ali Bowe, one of the group’s Facebook page administrators, said Dry Up La Grange received reports Sunday night and Monday morning from numerous residents about streets flooding.

"This specific storm has caused flooding that is localized in nature because of leaves that have clogged the sewer grates. Even areas where leaves were cleared from the streets ahead of time saw issues due to heavy rains downing leaves still on trees,” Bowe wrote.
She said the village did not experience any water overtopping Brainard Avenue, although it was close in some areas. Those with water pooling in streets should attempt to rake the leaves off grates and shovel it off the street, she said.

"Events like this should light a fire in everyone to DRY UP LA GRANGE!," Bowe wrote.
The Village Board was set to hold a meeting on flooding issues Monday night. It was scheduled before the recent rains.
