Runner's Soul to Support Boston With Group Run

The La Grange and Elmhurst locations of Runner's Soul will have a group run on Monday, April 22, to raise money for One Fund Boston in the wake of the bombings at the Boston Marathon.

Independent running stores across the country are holding group runs Monday to show solidarity for Boston in the wake of the tragic bombings at the the city's marathon.

In La Grange, The Runner's Soul invites the public to the store at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 22, for a 2.62-mile run and fundraiser. There will be $20 T-shirts available that say "Runners for Boston," and all proceeds will to go One Fund Boston, which was set up to raise money for the victims. 

"Running stores across the country were all hit very close to home by what happened Monday in Boston," a Runner's Soul news release stated. "We’re a small family with many of our owners and employees, as well as customers gather each year for the Boston Marathon."

Two employees at the La Grange location were at the Boston Marathon and made it out safely.

Runners are also encouraged to wear their gear from past Boston marathons in which they might have participated.

The Runner's Soul in Elmhurst will be doing the same thing. Runners should RSVP to info@therunnerssoul.com by Monday with the number of participants in their group and which store location (Elmhurst or La Grange) they will be at. If you would like to reserve a T-shirt, include your size in the RSVP.

Western Springs runners: The Competitive Foot, 814 Hillgrove Ave., is also hosting a run on Monday. That store's event kicks off at 7 p.m. Runners are encouraged to wear blue and yellow or any race shirt.
