LA GRANGE, IL — Hundreds took part in the Black Lives Matter protest Wednesday afternoon in La Grange. A number of people spoke beforehand in front of Village Hall, including new village Trustee Shawana McGee. And participants kneeled in silence for nine minutes. They then marched 2½ miles from downtown La Grange to Brainard Avenue and Plainfield Road in neighboring Countryside. Police cleared the way for the march, which had an uncertain direction. Organized by Lyons Township High School students, the demonstration was peaceful.
