Tap In. Turn Up. concert this weekend

Chicago Sinfonietta collaborates with acclaimed flamenco troop, Clinard Dance Theatre and tap-prodigy Cartier Will

Moments of sound evoke memories of the first time you heard that clap, bang or tap. This weekend, the Chicago Sinfonietta begins its 2015-2016 season celebrating new ways of hearing and viewing well-loved classical pieces.

Chicago-based Clinard Dance Theatre and Washington D.C. based tap-prodigy Cartier Williams bring their rhythms to the stage with the always innovative Chicago Sinfonietta. These concerts will add flamenco and tap rhythms to the instrument notes to create new experiences for audience members.

What’s great about Chicago Sinfonietta concerts is you see lots of families. These performances are a wonderful way to introduce your children to different musical genres. For this series, the music includes Sierra, Stravinsky, Borodin and Rinsky-Korsakov. The sounds range from Fandangos, The Firebird, Prince Igor and Scheherazade. Your children will take a full musical tour without leaving their seats.

The dancers accompanying the musicians will give your children a unique visual perspective on each music note. There’s an element of fun when dancers accompany live musicians. Your children will be able to hear, see and feel each note.

The Chicago Sinfonietta performs at Wentz Concert Hall (North Central College in Naperville)) on Saturday, October 3 and Symphony Center (Chicago) on Monday, October 5. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.chicagosinfonietta.org.
