Nearby high schools reflect a similar trend with coronavirus cases.

LA GRANGE, IL — One out of every 200 students at Lyons Township High School had the coronavirus as of late last week, according to a school report.

As of last Thursday, the school reported 16 cases among students, down from 28 the previous week. The current number works out to 0.4 percent of students. Three weeks ago, the school had 60 cases among students.

By comparison, Hinsdale Central and South high schools are both at 0.2 percent among students, while York High School in Elmhurst is at 0.6 percent.

The number of coronavirus cases among Lyons Township High School employees dropped to two as of Thursday, down from six a week earlier. That amounts to 0.3 percent of the school's staff of 580.

The mask mandate remains at Lyons Township High School. It was not among the nearly 150 school districts that are defendants in a lawsuit over the statewide mandate. On Friday, a judge issued an order temporarily suspending the requirement for those districts.
