See the latest announcement from the Village of La Grange.
August 13, 2021
Several areas within the Desplaines Valley Mosquito Abatement District are currently experiencing increased levels of West Nile Virus (WNV) within the adult mosquito population to the level where transmission to humans is likely. The species of mosquito involved in WNV transmission is not an aggressive biter and its presence often goes undetected. Recent warm temperatures have created ideal conditions for the production of this mosquito species along with rapid amplification of WNV as noted in the attached press release.

Many things can be done by residents to minimize mosquito activity and WNV transmission, such as eliminating sources of standing water on property (unrimmed tires, trash cans, buckets), limiting outdoor activity at dusk and wearing long sleeves/pants and loose fitting light colored clothing. Please visit the Desplaines Valley Mosquito Abatement District website here or the Village website here for more information.
