16-Year-Old Girl Earns Master's Degree
Lake County's Thessalonika Arzu-Embry will now pursue doctoral studies in aviation.

A 16-year-old girl who lives with her family at the Great Lakes Naval Station near North Chicago has earned a master’s degree.
Thessalonika Arzu-Embry received the degree in strategic foresight and organizational leadership Saturday through an online program offered by Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the Daily Herald reports.
The next step for the young genius, who was homeschooled from the age of 4 and graduated high school at 11, is doctoral study with plans to pursue a degree focusing on aviation psychology.

Arzu-Embry told the Daily Herald she is particularly interested in the aviation industry because of her father, Carlos Arzu - a military veteran and private pilot who now works as a manager at O’Hare International Airport. She wants to use the knowledge she’s amassing as a business consultant in the aviation industry.
“We want to keep people safe in the air,” she said.

Arzu-Embry earned her undergraduate degree studying at the College of Lake County, Chicago State University and Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey.
