192 Coronavirus Cases In Lake Forest, Lake Bluff ZIP Codes: IDPH
"Please continue to do what you are doing," Lake Forest Mayor George Pandaleon said, as data shows the spread of the coronavirus has slowed.
LAKE FOREST, IL — Statistics from state public health officials show the rate of spread of coronavirus in Lake Forest has continued to slow. Fewer than 30 new cases were confirmed among residents of incorporated parts of the city in the first 25 days of May.
"Lake Foresters, please continue to do what you are doing," Mayor George Pandeleon said Wednesday in a video message. "Since May 5 the percentage of residents testing positive has dropped almost 5 percent."
As of Monday, data from the Illinois Department of Public Health indicated there were 108 positive cases detected and 876 tests completed in Lake Forest's 60045 ZIP code. In Lake Bluff's 60044 ZIP code, there have been 83 confirmed coronavirus cases among 570 tests completed.

State and local health officials have not released data showing the number of people tested, the number of people who have recovered and the number of deaths among residents.
In Lake County as a whole, a total of 234 deaths have been linked to the coronavirus, according to the county health department. Of those, more than 65 percent have been among residents and staff at nursing homes, according to the Lake County Health Department.

There have been 154 deaths among the 1,171 cases detected in at least 50 long-term care facilities in the county. Among local facilities: Lake Forest Place reported three cases and no deaths, Sheridan at Green Oaks reported eight cases and one death and Claridge Health Center in Lake Bluff has had 14 deaths out of 60 reported cases, according to IDPH data.

Lake Forest officials plan to reopen city buildings with limited capacity during the next phase of Illinois' reopening, according to Pandaleon. Gov. J.B. Pritkzer is expected to declare the state will move to the state to the third phase of his Reopen Illinois plan later this week.
Pandaleon and Lake Bluff Village President Kathy O'Hara will be joined by local medical, educational and municipal leaders for a live update at 7 p.m. on June 2 over a video tele-conference.
