2 Stolen Cars Were Left Unlocked: Lake Forest Crime Reports

LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Forest Police Department as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

STOLEN, BURGLARIZED CARS

There were several incidents of car burglaries and two stolen cars reported on Feb. 19 in the 600 block of Newcastle Drive, 1000 block of Franz Drive and 500 block of Hathaway Circle.

More than $2,000 worth of items were stolen from various vehicles had been were left unlocked in driveways.

A 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had been left unlocked with a key fob inside was reported stolen.

A 2007 Mercedes CLK 550 was stolen from a driveway where it had been left unlocked with the keys inside.

Police reiterated their request for residents to lock their cars, remove valuables and refrain from leaving their keys or key fobs inside vehicles.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS.

A 26-year-old North Chicago woman was arrested at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 17 near the intersection of Waukegan and Westleigh roads and charged with driving while license suspended following a traffic stop.

A 27-year-old Waukegan man was arrested at 12:35 a.m. on Feb. 19 near the intersection of Route 60 and Field Drive and charged with driving on a suspended license and no vehicle insurance and ticketed for speeding. Police recorded a car on radar driving 68 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Shreya H. Shelat, 44, of the 1300 block of North Western Avenue, was arrested at 7:33 a.m. on Feb. 22 in the lobby of her building after police got 911 calls about a woman causing a disturbance, where she was allegedly alarming and disturbing other tenants.
