3 IDs Produced By 'Suspicious Person'; Teen Parties, Drivers Busted: Lake Forest Crimes

LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Forest Police Department as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

UNLICENSED AMMO POSSESSION, SUSPENDED LICENSE

Erica A. Gales, 30, of the 3300 block of Noll Drive in Park City, was arrested at 4:33 p.m. on Aug. 22 in the 800 block of Green Bay Road after police pulled her over for speeding. She was arrested and her car was inventoried before it was tower. Police said they found a bag inside containing 60 rounds of 9 mm ammunition from the center console of her vehicle. She faces charges of driving while license suspended and possession of firearm ammunition without a FOID card.

NOISE, ALCOHOL, CANNABIS

On Aug 23 at 11:33 p.m., Lake Forest police responded to a 911 call regarding a loud party in the 100 block of Washington Road. When police arrived, they said a "large group" of college students left the property and walked away toward Lake Forest College. Police located the renter of the home and advised him of the complaint about loud noise. Officers noted the odor of cannabis "coming from the house," and observed three clear glass smoking bongs on a table, a cannabis grinder, a scale and a small jar containing pills. Police said there were several people in the house who were intoxicated and underage, all the persons under age and intoxicated were detained. Eight people between the ages of 19-22 received alcohol or noise citations, one was issued a citation for drug paraphernalia.

FAKE ID

A 20-year-old St. Louis man was charged with unlawful possession of a fraudulent ID card and unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor after police on patrol around Market Square noticed three people "acting suspicious" shortly before 1 a.m. on Aug. 25. One of the three took a bike that did not belong to him from a bike rack and began riding it away, police said. Officers stopped the trio and determined they had been drinking alcohol. The St. Louis man was slurring his words and unable to maintain balance, according to police. When he was asked to produce identification, he reportedly pulled out three out-of-state driver's licenses, but only one of them was his. He was subsequently arrested. Another of the three individuals, an 18-year-old Texas resident, was issued an administrative citation for minor consuming alcohol.

NO LICENSE, UNDERAGE DRINKING

On Aug. 27 at 2:40 a.m., police on patrol around Westleigh Road saw a Toyota Rav 4 make an illegal turn. They pulled over the vehicle, and the driver, a 16-year-old Lake Forest boy, told them he did not have a license and was driving a friend's car. Police smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle and the four other teenage boys inside, all between the ages of 15 and 16 from Lake Bluff and Lake Forest. Eventually all five teens were cited for curfew violations, four were cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor, and the driver was cited for driving without a license and improper turn.

DUI WITH NO LICENSE

Elias M. Casrrubias, 33, of the 700 block of Central Avenue in Highland Park, was arrested Aug. 27 at 9:21 p.m. near the intersection of Route 41 and Westleigh Road. Police said they witnessed a red Kia swerve out of its lane of traffic multiple times. Police pulled over the vehicle, identified the driver, and "immediately" smelled the odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. He told police he did not have driver's license. Police said he displayed several signs of intoxication and had an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. He was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, no valid driver's license, illegal transportation of alcohol. Police said he produced a breath sample indicating a blood alcohol content of 0.193, more than twice the legal limit.
