Alabama Woman Faces Gun Charge Over Out-Out-State Permit: Blotter
Fugitive from justice charge for a hospital patient, underage drinkers ticketed on the Lake Forest police blotter from April 26 to May 9.

LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Forest Police Department and court records as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 36-year-old Batavia man was ticketed for possession of a small amount of cannabis and drug paraphernalia at 11:08 p.m. on April 26. Police were called to Lake Forest College, where campus security had detained a non-student who was found with a glass smoking pipe. He was released with a trespass warning from the school.

A 48-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 9:11 p.m. on April 28 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Deerpath and Hastings road. Police pulled him over for an equipment violation and he informed them he believed his license was "very expired."
Carla R. Preister, 42, of the 1400 block of Greenfield Avenue in North Chicago, was arrested at 5:36 p.m. on April 29 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop on Route 41 at Old Elm Road. Police got a call about a silver sedan speeding north. They found the car, pulled it over, and determined she was impaired. She refused alcohol testing following a field sobriety test.

A 25-year-old Chicago man was ticketed for possession of drug paraphernalia, including glass pipes and a marijuana grinder, following a traffic stop in the area of Route 41 and Route 41 for an equipment violation and speeding 70 in a 55 mph zone.
Humberto Gonzalez, 41, of the 2800 block of Vercoe Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested at 8:23 p.m. on May 2 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop on Route 41 at Old Elm Road. Police were called about a green pickup truck that was driving with no lights at night and in the rain. It had also reportedly struck a center median. Police pulled over the truck and determined Gonzalez was driving drunk.
Jeremiah A. Newell, 35, of the 400 block of Franklin Street in Fort Bragg, California was arrested and charged with battery. Police were called to a home in the 100 block of North Sheridan Road around at 5:36 a.m. on May 4 for a report that Newell had repeatedly punched someone in the body and face, knocking the victim to the ground before leaving the scene. A witness corroborated the account and Newell was later located and arrested.
Antonia E. Hubanks, 23, of the 2300 block of Kemble Avenue in North Chicago, and Marcus M. Jackson, 29, of the 0-100 block of Prairie View Court in North Chicago, were arrested shortly after 3 a.m. on May 5 on warrants issued by Lake County for failing to appear in court in connection with charges of theft following a traffic stop in the 400 block of Skokie Highway. Police also located an open container of alcohol in the front passenger area.
Jesus Soto, 26, of the 1400 block of Michigan Avenue in Sheboygan, Wisconsin was arrested at 4 p.m. on May 6 near the intersection of Route 41 and Westleigh Road and charged with several offenses after police got a call about a green pickup truck that was involved in a hit-and-run and had been driving erratically. Police found the truck and identified the driver as Soto, who they said was "acting strange" and was in possession of prescription sedative that did not belong to him. He was taken to Lake Forest Hospital for a testing after police determined he was impaired by drugs, and police said DUI charges are pending lab results. He was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, operating a vehicle with suspended registration, operating an uninsured vehicle.
A 19-year-old Lake Forest woman was cited for social hosting after police were called about a report of a battery at a home in the 1100 block of Highland Avenue shortly after midnight on the night of May 7. Police found five people in the front yard who were all underage and "smelled of alcohol and burn cannabis." The woman who lived at the address told police she had been struck earlier when asking someone to leave. Five people – including the Lake Forest resident and a 20-year-old Gurnee man, a 20-year-old Mundelein woman, a 20-year-old Libertyville man and an 18-year-old Gurnee woman – were issued citations for underage drinking.
Ryan Elizabeth Martin, 29, of the 0-100 block of Arbor Cove in Phenix City, Alabama was arrested at 1:04 a.m. on May 7 near the intersection of Route 41 and Rockland Road and charged with unlawful use of a firearm and driving with a suspended license. Police pulled her over for a traffic offense and learned she had a loaded pistol in the front passenger area of the vehicle. She told police she had a permit to legally carry the gun in Alabama but was currently living in a North Chicago hotel.
Marcus D. Buford, 31, of the 2700 block of Ezekial Drive in Zion, was arrested at 9:20 a.m. on May 8 after police were notified that a patient being released from Lake Forest Hospital was wanted on a warrant issued by Kenosha County for a parole violation. He was taken to the Lake Forest Police Department, where the warrant was confirmed and he was charged with fugitive from justice in connection with a case in which plead guilty to reduced charges – misdemeanor disorderly conduct, violation of a no contact order, misdemeanor resisting and felony fleeing police – after he was accused of choking his girlfriend before stealing her car, striking her with it and leading police on a four-mile chase around town.
