Alleged Mastermind of iPad Theft at Lake Forest Academy Indicted

Anam Qadri could spend up to 90 years in prison if convicted on all five theft counts.

The accused ringleader of a heist that resulted in the theft of 400 iPads from Lake Forest Academy in 2013 has been indicted on charges of theft, burglary and conspiracy to commit theft.

Anam Qadri, 31, of Roselle was indicted by a Grand Jury in Waukegan last week on five separate counts of theft and could face anywhere from 22 to 90 years in prison if convicted on all counts, according to the Lake Forester.

Qadri was arrested in Lake Forest on September 5 with Nicholas Roiniotis, 25, Palatine and Natan Khanania, 25, Hanover Park, who were also allegedly involved with the theft. Khanania plead guilty to felony theft Jan. 8, and Roiniotis pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft and were each sentenced to two years of probation.

The trio are accused of breaking into the school early in the morning on June 11, 2013 and stealing th iPads that were supposed to be returned to Apple after student use during the year. Roiniotis was a security guard at the school.

Qadri is free on $100,00 bond and will be arraigned May 20 in Lake County Criminal Court in Waukegan.
