KNAUZ AUTOMOTIVE GROUP HONORED BY GOVERNOR QUINN

Knauz is the first and only auto dealership awarded the Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award for incorporating environment and sustainability into the facilities, grounds maintenance and primary operations at each dealership since the inception of the Statewide program 25 years ago.

            Knauz Automotive Group, Lake Bluff, celebrating 78 years of business on Chicago’s North Shore, was recently awarded the Governor’s Sustainability Award, presented by the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center, a unit of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois.  Knauz, the only car dealership to have ever won this honor, was recognized with 20 other business organizations in the State for having demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence through outstanding and innovative sustainability practices that also save money and help the economy.

            “We are truly honored to have been recognized for our efforts to reduce pollution and limit our carbon footprint,” stated William R.             Knauz Automotive Group has, historically, sought out organic products to fertilize the plantings at the Autopark.  When Bill Wagener, Fixed Operations Director at Knauz was made aware of the other ways that Knauz could impact the environment, the decision was quickly made to invest in the future.  According to Debra Jacobson, Regional Operations Manager of the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center, Knauz not only met but actually surpassed all standards set for the Governor’s Award.
