On-Campus Crash Leads To DUI Charges: Lake Forest Crime Reports
Lake Forest Police Blotter: Sept. 16 - Sept. 28
LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Forest Police Department as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

STOLEN CAR

On Sept. 19, police were called to the 1400 block of North McKinley Road in response to a 911 call concerning the theft of a car from a driveway. Officers determined that a 2002 black Acura had been left unlocked with the keys inside overnight. Police said there were no suspects as of Sept. 28 and reminded all residents to lock their cars and take their keys and valuables out of their vehicles.

ARRESTS
SUSPENDED LICENSE / CANNABIS PARAPHERNALIA
A 21-year-old Northbrook man was arrested on Sept. 16 at 1:18 a.m. at Route 60 and Waukegan Road and charged with driving while license suspended. Police on routine patrol pulled over a silver Nissan after watching it commit several traffic violations. Officers spoke with the driver and learned his license was suspended. During the conversation, officers also noticed a glass pipe in the passenger seat area. The driver was taken into custody and police seized the pipe and a metal grinder, both of which they said were used for consuming marijuana. He was also issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
DUI/DRUGS
Sean O'Connell, 22, of the 1400 block of Burnside Court, Long Grove, was arrested on Sept. 24 at 10:17 a.m. at Lake Forest College, 555 N. Sheridan Rd., and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of a controlled substance. Police responded to a report of an accident at the college, and during an investigation, they determined that one of the drivers involved appeared intoxicated. While investigating his impairment, police said they found O'Connell was in possession of a controlled substance and taken into custody. He was released on bond ahead of an Oct. 11 court date.
DUI
Alejandro Guzman, 24, of the 700 block of North Butrick Street, Waukegan, was arrested Sept. 22 at 2:42 a.m. in the area of Route 41 and Deerpath Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police said an officer on routine patrol noticed a white Toyota committe several traffic violations and pulled it over. While speaking to the driver, Guzman, police said they determined he may have been drinking before going behind the wheel. When asked, Guzman told police he had consumed seven beers. Police conducted field sobriety tests and based on their observations, they arrested him for DUI. He was assigned a court date of Oct. 27.
