Author With Local Ties to Present New Mystery Novel at Lake Forest Bookstore

Highland Park native Timothy Patten excited about Tuesday night's signing and discussion.

A mystery author who grew up in Highland Park will return to the area for a signing and discussion of his newest book.

Timothy Patten will present “Money, Family, Murder!” at the Lake Forest Bookstore on Tuesday, August 18 from 6-7 p.m.

“Money, Family, Murder is a fast reading mystery thriller about a billionaire in Newport Beach, California, who is wrongly accused of a murder and his own investigation to identify the real person who committed the murder before the Newport Beach police and Orange County District Attorney try to put him away in prison for the rest of his life,” said Patten, who still has family who reside on the North Shore.

Patten, a Highland Park High School alum, rekindled his passion for creative literature after retiring from the information technology industry.

And while “Money, Family Murder!” is officially a work of fiction, some parts are based on true events, such as Patten’s daughter being victimized by identity theft and himself being struck by a golf ball at a charity event several years back.
