Back by Popular Demand: Manners, Please at Gorton

Etiquette to impress even the toughest relatives

Just in time for the holidays, Gorton is proud to host Manners, Please an etiquette workshop this Saturday, November 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Gorton Community Center in Lake Forest.

Children ages eight through 14 will learn the proper way to set a table, which fork to use, and what to do if that fork finds its way onto the floor.

Taught by Particia O’Brien, who is trained and certified by the Washington School of Protocol, this course also covers how to make introductions, write a great thank you note, and answer the phone properly.

Mrs. O’Brien’s motto is: Let’s put civility back on the table, and her goal is to teach children etiquette that will make them comfortable at any special occasion or in any social setting.
Proper dress is required, and young ladies are asked to wear a dress or skirt and young men are asked to wear a coat and tie.

The class fee is $90 per student, and online reservations are available at www.gortoncenter.org. Due to the popularity of this workshop, a second session will take place Saturday, December 13.
